        Indigo, Jayden & Bay have been inseparable since high school, they have been sleeping on the streets of NYC for quite some time now. They refused to go into a shelter because Jayden would have to go into a mens shelter alone then Indigo & Bay would be separated due to the age gap, Indigo is 26, Bay is 23, & Jayden is also 23, they couldn’t go into a family shelter because although they acted as one they weren’t blood related. They all became friends when Indigo was a senior, both Bay & Jayden were freshman’s who clearly liked each other, one day this group mixed with boys & girls were picking on Jayden & Bay when suddenly someone stepped in & backed them off, that someone was Indigo, ever since that day Indigo vowed to take them both under her wing.

        When Indigo graduated class of 2014 both Bay & Jayden figured they wouldn’t hear much from her but she proved them wrong, she got they’re contact information & text or called them everyday to check up on them. After she graduated she took a few college courses for the credit but she didn’t get a degree. She planned on going back to school for law enforcement so she can become a 911 operator but at the moment she settled for working as a manager at Macy’s. On her 26 birthday she found out her roommate at the time was moving & waited until the last minute to tell her, she was saving money to go back to school, she didn’t have enough to buy a house/apartment.

      Bay’s parents kicked her out when they found out she was seeing Jayden, they were religious & strict so with only a duffel bag & a few clothes she was on the streets of NYC. She graduated high school 8 years prior to her parents kicking her out, even though she was a grown woman at the age of 23 her parents kicked her out because she wasn’t married & sex before marriage was a sin in they’re eyes. She called the only people she felt was in her corner, first she called Indigo & told her that her parents put her out & that she was on her way to Jayden’s, she didn’t expect to hear that Indigo to was freshly out on the streets because her roommate forgot to mention that she was moving, they 3 dialed Jayden & decided to meet up there. When they get to Jayden’s house his mother isn’t having it, she says “ boy I struggle hard enough to feed your big ass, I don’t need 2 other grown ass adults staying here eating up the food & raising my water bill on top of the other bills” Indigo tried to plead to Jayden’s mother because she worked but Jayden’s mother didn’t care. After the conversation with Jayden’s mother now all 3 of them was on the street, he decided that if his girlfriend & best friend  would be on the streets so would he, he didn’t feel right having shelter & they didn’t.

       During the day they would go to community centers & eat breakfast, lunch & dinner but at night time they often went back to this spot they had made with boxes & sleep there. One night Bay wasn’t feeling well & the coat she was wearing wasn’t warm enough, she complained to both Jayden & Indigo but they had no where else to go, Bay convinced them to go on a walk with her. While they’re walking Bay had hunch to see if someone would take them into her home, now in the chances was slim being in NYC but she had to atleast try, 5 people told them no they couldn’t live with them because they were strangers. Jayden & Indigo insisted they go back to the spot but Bay wanted to try one more house before returning to spot, she saw lights on in this one house, she went to go knock on the door & a older woman that had to be in her early 50s answered, Bay asked if she could take them in, at first the lady was about to close the door on them but when she saw they hadn’t shower & how cold it was outside she said “ one minute” & closed the door. Indigo said “ alright let’s go” but Bay told her “ wait a minute she could be coming back, everyone else straight up told us no she said one minute”, just then the lady opened the door & said “ I placed newspapers on the floor tracing to the bathroom, y’all come in one at a time & shower I got some food on the stove for when you are finished & some clothes for you guys to sleep in. A moment of relief came over them.

      After they all came in & showered the woman introduced herself “ I’m Ms. Ann, now look y’all can stay here but there is going to be some rules, 1. Do not open my door past 11:00 at night, 2. If your going to have someone over that’s cool handle your business, but be courteous, 3. No one stays here on they ass all day, I gotta get up at 54 years old & take my black ass to work so do y’all, & last but not least 4. Clean up after yourself, young man you were the last one to take a shower so you clean the tub, one of you can wash the dishes & the other take out the trash, she gave Indigo & Bay some of her daughters nightgowns to sleep in & Jayden her deceased husbands shirt & long johns, they introduce themselves to Ms. Ann & start cleaning.”

     The next day Ms. Ann was waking them up at 9:00 in the morning, she said “ alright time to get up, I call out we going to a clinic today n running test on you guys” they got up & got dress, after the clinic they found out Bay was 6 weeks pregnant, Jayden was clean & Indigo didn’t tell anybody but Ms. Ann that she had chlamydia, she was happy that it was something that’ll go away but she wanted to curse her fuck buddy out for passing it on to her, it had to be him because she only was giving herself to him. After the clinic Ms. Ann took them to get some clothes, she said “ my daughters will have a fit if they come home & y’all in they clothes come on I’ll get y’all some new clothes of your own & you young man definitely can’t keep wearing my husbands clothes they share a laugh.

    6 months later, Bay is 7 months with a nice round belly she’s going to a cuny college Baruch for a Business degree & psychology while living off campus back at the house with Ms. Ann, it took a while for her to realize that her & Jayden were dating & that he was the babies father but when she figured it out she gave them a bedroom of they’re own, Jayden was working in construction 12 hours a day saving money so him & Bay could get a place of they’re own with the newborn, Indigo was still at Macy’s she started saving for an house & she was going to school online for law enforcement. They all contribute to the house, Jayden pays some of the bills, Indigo goes food shopping with Ms. Ann & buys the food & Bay cleans the house. One day while Bay was in the house cleaning up someone walked into the house with a set of keys, it was one of Ms. Ann’s daughters, she looked at Bay & said “ hello why are you at my mother’s house” Bay replied “ Hi my name is Bay & your mother Ms. Ann let me my boyfriend & bestfriend stay here while we get up on our feet” Ms. Ann’s daughter replied “ Oh hell no, you got 20 seconds to get yo pregnant ass up outta here” just then Ms. Ann came in & said “ Akyna cut it out, this is Bay & she’s staying with me until further notice” Akyna went to respond but her mother gave her one look & she decided not too, she turned to Bay & said “ look I’m sorry I am just over protective of my mother” Bay said “ no apologies needed I totally understand” Akyna said “ now look I don’t know how my other sisters Katera, Sally & Debra is going to react but I will worn you that Sally may swing so beware” Ms. Ann intervened & said “ now that may be true but she won’t swing on Bay seeing that she is pregnant & I am sure your big ass mouth is going to tell them so it should be no surprise when they get here” just then Jayden walked in from work, seeing him in his uniform did something to Akyna but when she saw him hug Bay & kiss her belly she just said hello & went into her room she shared with the girls & now Indigo. 

    When Indigo got to the house she heard noise, she rushed in to see if Bay was okay when she saw Akyna, Sally, Katera & Debra, she said” hello y’all must be Ms. Ann’s daughter I’m Indigo” turns out the noise was Sally making a scene about the new guest, Akyna, Katera & Debra said hello with a nasty tone but Sally came right up & swung on Indigo, totally unexpected & off reflex Indigo 2 pieced her the Sally grabbed her hair & hit her with left hook, while they went blow for blow it was clear to see both met they’re match, everyone breaks up the fight & Ms. Ann says “ alright now enough both of you let go, now Sally you did not have to hit her why you always got to be violent now she stays upstairs with you & the girls” still upset Sally just rolled her eyes & said whatever, Indigo was lucky Ms. Ann got them separated before the other girls jumped in but little did they know Bay would’ve fought pregnant & all for Indigo.

     Later that day Indigo is upstairs in her area, Akyna says to her “ girl you got some hands, we almost jumped yo ass downstairs” Indigo replied “ look I’m sorry but she hit me & my reflexes are quick” Akyna said “ you good, I’m not mad at you for defending yourself” just then Sally walked in & up to Indigo & as she was about to get up in case Sally wanted a round 2 Sally said “ look I talked to my mom & I’m sorry about hitting you but it was either you or your friend & she’s pregnant, anyways my bad” Indigo says “ it’s all good I probably would’ve reacted the same way” Debra interrupts them & says “ alright now that we got the greetings out the way anybody ready to smoke” everybody except Indigo pulled out blunts they rolled & sparked up Indigo said no because she was looking to becoming a 911 operator & wanted to pass a drug test, while they’re smoking they here Jayden & Bay next door & say “ awe shit we gon have to hear that shit now” Indigo says “ yes almost every damn night, Bay think she quite but she not” Akyna says “ her man is fine shit I’ll be throwing it back every other night too” they all laugh & start to vibe with each other.

    After Bay & Jayden finished they’re session Bay took a shower got dress & knocked on the girls door, when she heard come in she opened the door & was smacked in the face by the smoke, Katera says “ girl close the door, our mother know we smoke but she hate the smell, she closed the door & Indigo opened a window so the smoke could clear out. She comes in & sits next to Indigo, Akyna asked her “ so preggo what would you have done if we jumped your friend?” Bay replied “ look respectfully pregnant & all one of y’all was getting popped on” they all laugh & the girls say I respect it, Indigo daps Bay up for having her follow up. While they chilling having girls time Ms. Ann comes upstairs & the girls quickly put out they’re blunts, Ms. Ann says “ Mhmmm y’all up here smoking that shit, girl you shouldn’t be up here in all this smoke” Katera says “ ma relax I researched it & weed doesn’t do any harm to the baby if she wanted to she could smoke” Ms. Ann shakes her head & says “ I’m glad everyone’s getting along, dinner will be done in an hour” & goes back downstairs to finish her TV show.

  2 months later, Bay & Jayden is in the delivery room while Bay is in labor, after 2 long hours Bay delivered a beautiful girl, they named her Bayden Indigo Brown, Ms. Ann hated the name but didn’t say anything because it wasn’t her baby, Indigo was on break at school so she was in the waiting room with the rest of the girls, when they all finally see the baby they smile, everyone says she looks like Jayden but Bay is convinced over time she’ll look like her, Indigo cried when she found out the baby middle name was Indigo. 2 days later Jayden & Bay bring the baby home, they had an apartment were on a waitlist for an apartment in Bedstuy, for the time being they set up the playpen in the room Ms. Ann gave them & enjoyed they’re newborn baby girl, Indigo didn’t have to go to school for another 4 weeks so she wanted to have fun, she took Ms. Ann out to eat & told Indigo & Jayden before classes returned they’d all be going out too, even though Indigi did classes online both working then coming back to the house to get online for school was draining.
